Bret Tackett is the founder and Managing Principal of Tackett Wealth Management. He oversees the firm’s investment management and financial planning activities and works directly with clients on portfolio strategy, retirement planning, and tax-aware financial decision-making.
His approach is grounded in evidence-based investing, thoughtful portfolio construction, and careful attention to how investment decisions interact with the broader financial picture. This often includes evaluating tax considerations, retirement distributions, cash flow needs, and other planning issues alongside investment management rather than separately.
Bret works with a limited number of client relationships, allowing him to remain directly involved in both planning discussions and investment decisions. Clients work directly with him throughout the advisory relationship rather than through layers of advisors or service teams.
Prior to founding Tackett Wealth Management in 2009, Bret worked in investment management and financial advisory roles serving individuals, families, trusts, and retirement plans.
He has also provided continuing legal education to attorneys, lectured to university students and professors, and served as an expert witness in matters involving investment management and fiduciary responsibility.
Bret earned a Master of Science in Decision and Information Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Florida. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. *
Outside of the office, Bret enjoys spending time with his family, strength training, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and following his son’s athletic activities.
